• Eligibility

  To be eligible to study in an Australian university, Pakistani students must meet certain study requirements. These requirements may vary depending on the level of study, the university, and the specific program the student is applying for. Pakistani students must have scored at least 60% in their intermediate studies for acceptance into undergraduate programs and typically a CGPA of 3.0 for admission to postgraduate programs. Students must also demonstrate proficiency in the English language by taking an English language proficiency test such as IELTS or PTE. The minimum score required for IELTS is 6.5 band score or a score of 59 in PTE. Apart from this, letters of recommendation, work experience letters, and a strong statement of purpose may also be mandatory.

• Intakes and Admission Deadlines

  Australian universities have two main admission intakes for international students: the February/March intake and the July intake. The February/March intake is also known as the autumn or first semester intake, and it is the main intake for most undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The application deadline for this intake is usually in November of the previous year. The July intake, also known as the winter or second semester intake, is the second main intake for international students. The application deadline for this intake is usually in April. In addition to these two main intakes, some universities may offer a third intake in November or December, which is primarily for postgraduate programs. However, this intake is less common and not all universities offer it.

• Part-time Work and Post-study Work Opportunities

  From 1 July 2023, work rights for international students will be increased from the previous 40 hours to 48 hours per fortnight. This nominal increase on the upper-limit on total working hours allowed will be beneficial for international students intending to support themselves during their studies while also allowing them to concentrate on their studies. Also from July 2023, a two-year extension of post-study work rights is available for international graduates with select degrees that are in areas of verified skill shortage, including health, teaching, engineering and agriculture. The Australian Government has extended post-study working rights for eligible international graduates. This means that post-study work rights for select degrees in areas of demand will be increased from: Two years to four years for select bachelor’s degrees Three years to five years for select master’s degrees Four years to six years for all doctoral degrees

• Study and Living Costs

  The average annual tuition fee at an Australian university range between AU$20,000 (US$13,675) to $45,000 (US$30,769) for an undergraduate degree and AU$22,000 (US$15,045) to $50,000 (US$34,192) for a postgraduate degree. • Visa Ratio and Taking Family Along
